Ideal for the cultivation of all carnivorous plants.
In their evolution phase, carnivorous plants have developed special systems to trap and digest insects; for this reason, they can be defined as carnivorous or insectivorous. They require a substrate with an acid pH (less than 5), which is free of nutrients – especially nitrogen, which is thus integrated by the plant through the digestion of animal proteins. Thanks to the presence of Irish and Baltic peat, the substrate maintains its acidity, the drainage capacity and, at the same time, it increases water retention. The Baltic peat gives softness to the substrate and maintains an acid pH, which is fundamental for the cultivation of this type of plants; the superfine Irish peat makes the soil more draining and softer while increasing water retention and bringing organic substances. The selected perlite finally increases aeration with positive effects on the root system and on the plant growth.
